Home Energy Scotland scheme and eligibility

What Is Home Energy Scotland?

Home Energy Scotland is a nationwide programme created by the Scottish Government to help homeowners improve home energy efficiency, reduce household energy bills, lower carbon emissions, and contribute to Scotland’s net-zero goals.

The scheme offers a mix of grants and interest-free loans to make renewable and energy-saving home improvements more affordable.

The amount of funding available depends on the type of measures installed, your property, and whether your project qualifies for partial grant support or full loan funding.

They extract renewable energy from the air outside – even in cold temperatures – and convert it into usable heat for your radiators, underfloor heating, and hot water.

Because they run on electricity rather than gas or oil, they cut carbon emissions while still providing consistent, comfortable warmth all year round.

Home Energy Scotland fund this technology as part of Scotland’s commitment to reach net-zero by 2045.

Insulation is the foundation of energy efficiency.

By preventing heat from escaping, it ensures that every unit of energy used to heat your home goes further – keeping you warmer for less.

Insulation is the foundation of energy efficiency.

By preventing heat from escaping, it ensures that every unit of energy used to heat your home goes further – keeping you warmer for less.

Home Energy Scotland funds insulation because improving the fabric of a building is often the most cost-effective route to energy savings and carbon reduction.

Insulating Scotland’s housing stock is a key part of the country’s net-zero roadmap. The scheme encourages homeowners to reduce heat loss before investing in renewable heating systems, ensuring each property achieves the greatest possible efficiency gains.
